, “what’s on the catwalk” or similar phrasing can refer to whatever is new and popular in fashion. For over 25 years, I got to attend some of fashion’s greatest shows where designer’s would share with the world the latest and greatest in fashion. The models were beautiful – the clothes fabulous – music inspiring – truly the air was electric with excitement and buzz over what was “hot and what was not.”

Now – I walk a different catwalk. “My girls” are beautiful – the music is cows bawling – the clothes we work in are not fabulous – but the air is electric and there is plenty of passion and excitement. Adrenaline is pumping because these girls are not thin – they weigh 1100 pounds and proud of it – and they are coming right at you. These girls are ushered down the chute so they can have annual vaccines administered – pour-ons to rid them of flys and other parasites. It is painless – they file in – and out. We stand on the catwalk – each with our job to administer a particular part of the vet’s protocol. “The hot” part is the temperatures that usually top 100 in the summer months. And “the not” part is not to get in their way – just do your job – and watch them leave.

Yes – it’s a different catwalk!! To tell you the truth – it’s just a different walk altogether!! But I think there is still plenty of beauty – inspiration – passion – and excitement. My “girls” never fail to give me a show – and I am proud of them!!!
