Here is a really great western idea for all those old rasps you have lying around in your barn. Kent Mertin, a working cowboy in West Jordan, Utah can immortalize those rasps into spurs, bits and buckles. For those of you who don’t know what a rasp is,  it is a course file with cutting points instead of ridges used to trim a horse’s hooves.

Gary decided he wanted a pair of Kent’s “Ranch Roper” rasp spurs. Since my dad was the one who used to take care of trimming the horse’s hooves, it was not hard to find two old rasps with a lot of memories attached. Ranching is steeped in history. So the two rasps used to make the spurs have now been turned into a little piece of that legacy.
